Marin Transit will be implementing changes to bus routes and schedules on June 11, 2023. These changes are intended to better align service with current ridership demands and improve service reliability. Riders should be aware that while most trips should remain feasible, some adjustments may need to be made to routes taken, travel times, or transfers between routes to reach their intended destination.
We encourage riders to check the updated schedule and plan their trips accordingly. The routes listed below will experience routing or service level changes.

Marin Transit will also be making changes to select Marin Access programs on July 1, 2023. Click here for more information.
Service Changes
Downtown San Rafael – Marin City
Routing change: Northbound service would no longer serve Strawberry Village stops
Service Level Changes: The following weekday trips are cancelled:
- Southbound: 6:30p, 9:00p
- Northbound: 10:09p
The following weekend trips are cancelled:
- Northbound: 8:01p, 9:01p
Schedule runtime adjustments were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
Canal – Downtown Fairfax
Routing change: All westbound trips will be extended to service Fairfax Manor
Service Level Change: Weekday peak hour service will be increased to operate every 30 minutes in both directions.
Schedule runtime adjustments and arrival/departure times at the San Rafael Transit Center were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
Canal – Marin Health
Routing change: Route 29 will no longer serve the Canal and destinations west of Bon Air Road in Greenbrae/Larkspur. Service will be extended south from Bon Air Road into Larkspur and E. Corte Madera along Magnolia-Doherty-Tamal Vista-Paradise-San Clemente-Paradise.
Service Level Change: Schedule runtime adjustments and arrival/departure times at the San Rafael Transit Center were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
Canal – Novato
Routing change: Route 35 will no longer operate north of the Northgate/Terra Lina area. Most trips will now terminate at Nova Albion/Las Gallinas with select trips starting and ending at Terra Linda HS. Alternative service north is provided by Routes 49, 57, and 71.
Service Level Change: No significant change
Canal – Marin City
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Schedule runtime adjustments and arrival/departure times at the San Rafael Transit Center were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
Downtown San Rafael – Novato
Routing change: Route 49 will be extended to serve the San Marin neighborhood and the San Marin SMART station. Service around Terra Linda to the Nova Albion/Las Gallinas and adjacent stops has been removed.
Service Level Change: No significant change
Downtown San Rafael – Novato
Routing change: Route 57 is a new route to largely replace service along existing Routes 251 and 257. The route will continue to serve all Route 257 destinations and include an extension of service north of the Indian Valley campus of College of Marin along the existing Route 251 into Downtown Novato. Service would then continue along Redwood Blvd to terminate the San Marin SMART station. Weekend service would only serve destinations within Novato.
Service Level Change: Weekday peak hour service will operate every 30 minutes within Novato and all other service will operate hourly.
Sausalito – Bolinas
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Weekday and weekend schedules will be adjusted in both directions. Weekday service will now operate a consistent year-round schedule and not reduce service during non-summer dates. Weekend eastbound service will operate six trips instead of seven, daily, to match the westbound service.
Downtown San Rafael – Inverness
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Weekday and weekend schedules will be changed in both directions. Select trips were added or removed to improve service reliability. Weekend service arrival/departures were adjusted to improve connections to local and regional services.
Novato - Marin City
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Service was added on weekdays during mid-day hours to create a consistent 30 minute frequency in both directions between 5:00 am and 6:00 pm. Service after 6:00pm will continue to operate hourly.
Tiburon – Strawberry
Routing change: Service will no longer operate within the Tiburon Hills and along Beach Rd.
Service Level Change: Schedule runtime adjustments were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
Downtown San Rafael – Fairfax Manor
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Minor schedule runtime adjustments were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
San Rafael (Downtown – Santa Venetia)
Routing change: No significant change
Service Level Change: Minor schedule runtime adjustments were made on many trips to improve service reliability.
San Rafael – Novato (Ignacio)
Route 257 will be discontinued effective June 11, 2023. Alternative service in will be provided by Route 57.
Canal - Terra Linda HS
Route 645 will be discontinued effective June 11, 2023. Alternative service in will be provided by Route 35.
